Team Liquid Philippines is on a mission — and ONIC PH learned that the hard way.
The Cavalry marched into the MPL Philippines Season 16 Playoffs with fire in their eyes, delivering a stunning 3-0 sweep of powerhouse ONIC PH in the upper bracket semifinals on Thursday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
It was an all-systems-go performance for Team Liquid, who showed no signs of hesitation against one of the most consistent squads in the league.
Head coach Rodel “Ar Sy” Cruz could hardly believe the form his players have found in this postseason surge.
“Sobrang iba talaga yung players ko ngayong playoffs, hindi ko ine-expect lahat yun. Unexpected talaga naging performance ng mga players ko since kahapon,” said Ar Sy.
Leading the charge was veteran jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, who turned back the clock with two Game MVP performances. His signature precision and poise on both Yi Sun-Shin and Lancelot set the tone for Liquid’s confident run.

In the opener, KarlTzy dictated the tempo from start to finish, controlling every Turtle and Lord objective while helping Sanford “Sanford” Vinuya’s Phoveus lock down the EXP lane.
ONIC struggled to find any footing, eventually crumbling to KarlTzy’s late-game aggression as his perfectly timed Mountain Shocker eliminated Borris “Brusko” Parro’s Hylos and broke the yellow squad’s final defense.
The second game was more of the same — an avalanche of pressure that left ONIC reeling. The San-San duo of Sanford and Sanji paved the way for KarlTzy’s finishing blows, building a massive gold gap before Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz sealed the deal. His Flicker–Raging Sandstorm combo caught three ONIC players, triggering a game-ending 4-for-1 exchange and putting Liquid on match point.
Game 3 tested Team Liquid’s composure in a drawn-out 19-minute slugfest. With the Lord up for grabs, Sanford’s Alice and Kiel “Oheb” Soriano’s Claude synchronized perfectly to take down King “K1NGKONG” Perez’s Yi Sun-Shin. That crucial pick led to a free Lord and a decisive final siege that completed the sweep.
The victory sends Team Liquid PH to the upper bracket finals, where they await the winner of the Aurora-TNC matchup on Friday.
