MPL: Aurora climbs to top spot after dominating TNC

Aurora rose to the top of the standings after sweeping TNC Pro Team, 2-0, in the MPL Philippines Season 16 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati on Sunday.

Dylan “Light” Catipon’s surprise pick of Franco led the way early as Aurora wrecked TNC in Game 1 after 12 minutes with a 9-0 kill lead.

Light tallied eight assists and participated in almost all of the kills to earn the first-game MVP.

TNC fared better in the second game until the 15th minute when Light’s heroics once again catapulted Aurora to the momentum after a two-man combo wiped out TNC’s 3Mar, LanceCy, and Bennyqt, allowing RORA to notch the decisive win.

Meanwhile, on the same day, A.PBren completed a reverse sweep of cellar-dwelling Team Falcons, 2-1, to gain a hold of the solo seventh spot.

Aurora boasts a 4-1 slate, tied with Twisted Minds PH, while TNC drops to fifth place with a 2-3 record.

Aurora will look to strengthen its place at the top against AP.Bren on Friday, Sept. 12.
