Boston Celtics guard Derrick White wins NBA Sportsmanship Award 

The National Basketball Association announced early Friday, April 24 (Philippine Standard Time) that Derrick White of the Boston Celtics has been named the recipient of the league’s prestigious Sportsmanship Award, an honor voted on by his fellow players across the league.

White emerged as the clear winner in a field of respected nominees, earning 20 percent of the first-place votes from the 386 players who cast ballots. He accumulated a total of 2,826 points, finishing ahead of T. J. McConnell of the Indiana Pacers, who placed second with 2,566 points, while Harrison Barnes of the San Antonio Spurs secured third with 2,466 points.

Presented annually since the 1995–96 season, the NBA Sportsmanship Award recognizes the player who best exemplifies the ideals of fair play, integrity, and respect both on and off the court. The award is officially named after Joe Dumars, a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time NBA champion who was also the inaugural recipient. White’s win also marks back-to-back Sportsmanship Awards for Boston, following Jrue Holiday’s recognition during the 2024–25 season. The consecutive honors further reinforce the Celtics’ culture of professionalism and accountability as they continue to contend among the NBA’s elite teams.
