MPL PH Week 4 preview: Team Liquid seeks to regain momentum against Falcons

As the MPL Philippines Season 16 reaches its midpoint, Week 4 is set to be one of the premier weekends of the season as former teammates turned rivals clash and new contenders seek to fortify their spot at the top of the MLBB mountain.

This weekend will showcase the defending champions, Team Liquid PH, going up against Team Falcons, who are seeking to gain momentum after a rough start to the season.

Former teammates Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel and Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno are set to rekindle the flame, but this time, as rivals. Alongside one another, the two have built legacies that have helped the league become what it has become today.

Pheww, the veteran mid-laner known for high game IQ, comfort on magic/utility mages and control picks (Pharsa, Faramis, Selena types), transitioned through multiple roles in his career, will look to lead the Falcons from the bottom by snagging a huge win against the defending champions.

However, KarlTzy, stands in his way as the younger superstar jungler, renowned for mechanically demanding carry picks (Claude, Aldous) and for performing on the highest stage can potentially become the primary win-condition for his team in the match.

The two teams will play on Saturday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m.

In the weekend’s first matchup, Aurora Gaming will look to fortify its place atop the standings and remove any doubt of its identity against powerhouse AP.Bren.

Aurora is on a hot streak this season after extending their win streak and is currently riding four straight wins, which has pushed it to become one of the contenders this season. AP.Bren, who has been less consistent this season, has shown flashes of their capabilities but has shown to faltered in the late game.

They will kickstart Week 4 on Friday, Sept. 12, at 5:00 p.m.

Other marquee matchups at the midpoint of the season include third-ranked ONIC PH facing Omega Esports, and an exciting middle-table clash between TNC vs Twisted Minds PH.
