The Petro Gazz Angels cemented their place among the Premier Volleyball League’s (PVL) elite after outlasting the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, 21–25, 28–26, 25–23, 25–20, before a packed Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, November 30, to capture the 2025 Reinforced Conference crown—marking the franchise’s third Reinforced title.
As they have all season, Petro Gazz’s key weapons delivered when it mattered most. Lindsey Vander Weide spearheaded the attack with 23 points, while Brooke Van Sickle chipped in 20 and Myla Pablo added 14, sealing a resilient comeback victory.
The triumph marked Vander Weide’s second Reinforced Conference championship with the Angels, having also led the team to the 2022 title—a run that earned her Best Import honors. After a season filled with ups and downs, she admitted this championship held even deeper significance.

“It’s awesome. I said in the beginning, ‘Let’s run it back,’ and I wouldn’t say I was half-joking, but you never know what’s going to happen. For us to pull it out and beat some of the top teams in the end just shows how much grit this team has. We knew we had it all along. It just came out at the end,” Vander Weide said in the postmatch press conference.
The victory also made Vander Weide the first import in PVL history to win two league titles.
“Of course, twice is always a little nicer, for sure. Just the fact that I got to do it with Petro Gazz is awesome, and doing it with so many of the same girls is awesome. This team has so much grit, and it really just shows itself as the best,” she added.
While the 27-year-old has not yet mapped out her future plans, she made clear that a return to Petro Gazz for another Reinforced Conference run is something she would welcome.
“Who knows? If I’m coming back, I would love to be with this team. I would definitely be interested in another Reinforced Conference,” Vander Weide concluded.
