The Charlotte Hornets were the deserved winners of the 2025 National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League, recording a perfect 6-0 record and standing as the only team to go unbeaten in the tournament.
While the Hornets claimed the Summer League title, Utah Jazz center Kyle Filipowski was named the 2025 NBA Summer League Most Valuable Player (MVP). The former rookie averaged 29.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game across three appearances for the Jazz. He shot 56.1 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc. Jazz management opted to rest him for two games. The 21-year-old became the first player in franchise history to win the Summer League MVP award.
Filipowski also headlined the All-Summer League First Team, where he was joined by Nique Clifford of the Sacramento Kings, David Jones-Garcia of the San Antonio Spurs, Jordan Miller of the Los Angeles Clippers, and Terrance Shannon Jr. of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Meanwhile, in good news for the league, viewership for the event rose by 27 percent from last year, averaging 255,000 viewers. Notably, the finals between Charlotte and Sacramento drew an average of 420,000 viewers, marking a three percent increase compared to the previous year.
Filipowski will now look to carry this momentum into the 2025–26 NBA season, following a rookie campaign in which he averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds across 72 games, including 27 starts for Utah.
The Summer League also featured Bronny James in action for the Los Angeles Lakers. The young guard had a solid showing, averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals per game, while shooting 47.6 percent from the field in 24.3 minutes per game.
