UAAP standout Bella Belen officially signs with the Capital1 Solar Spikers

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) standout Bella Belen was selected as the first overall pick by the Capital1 Solar Spikers in an expected move during the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft held on Sunday, June 8, at the Novotel Manila hotel in Quezon City.

Belen was not present at the event, as she is currently representing the Philippine women’s volleyball national team in the 2025 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Volleyball Nations Cup in Hanoi, Vietnam, under head coach Jorge Souza de Brito, who will also lead the Solar Spikers.

A month after being drafted by Capital1, Belen officially signed with the Solar Spikers, with her talent agency, VMGAsia, sharing the development on Wednesday, July 16, across various social media platforms.

Capital1 team owner Milka Romero also shared the news on social media, stating, “Welcome to the Capital1 Solar Spikers family, Bella Belen.”

The contract of the 23-year-old was not disclosed, although as per PVL rules, Belen is entitled to a three-year minimum contract for being a first-round pick and will earn a minimum salary of ₱165,000.

Belen has yet to suit up for the Solar Spikers, as she remains busy with her commitments for Alas Pilipinas. She continues to rack up accolades at the collegiate level, recently earning her third UAAP Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year award.

Belen is expected to make her much-awaited professional debut in the PVL Reinforced Conference in October.

Known for her all-around game, leadership, and composure under pressure, Belen has firmly established herself as a pivotal figure in Philippine volleyball. As she transitions to the professional stage with the Capital1 Solar Spikers and continues her role with Alas Pilipinas, she remains a player to watch—poised to leave an even greater mark on the sport.
