The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) standout Bella Belen is widely considered to be the next big volleyball superstar to emerge from the country and is already living up to the hype and expectations placed on her.
Belen was recently in action at the 2025 Star Magic All-Star Games, which took place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, July 20. The 23-year-old was among a select few athletes invited to take part in the event, with Angel Canino of De La Salle University and fellow National University players Ivy Lacsina and Lams Lamina joining her as guest players.
Mikha Lim of the Philippines’ top girl group BINI also participated as a guest player. Belen praised her for being approachable and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to play in the Star Magic All-Star Games.
“I’m very grateful, and it’s my first time at the Star Magic All-Star Games. Only a select group of athletes get to play here, so I was very excited to see how I’d perform against them. I trained with BINI’s Mikha once. Even though we were on opposing teams, we trained at the same time. She’s very approachable and genuinely kind. She’s extremely famous, but still very down-to-earth,” Belen said during a media interaction.
“I used to play tune-up matches with her back when I was still with NU. So it feels like we’ve faced off here even before we do in the PVL,” she added.
The young star showcased her talents on the night, finishing with 20 points—including 16 attacks, two blocks, and two service aces—to lead her team, the Lady Spikers, to a close 23-25, 25-23, 15-11 victory over the Lady Setters.
Notably, Belen was selected as the first overall pick by the Capital1 Solar Spikers during the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft and recently signed with the franchise.
Belen has yet to suit up for the Solar Spikers, as she remains committed to Alas Pilipinas. She continues to rack up accolades at the collegiate level, recently earning her third UAAP Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year award. Belen is expected to make her highly anticipated professional debut in the PVL Reinforced Conference this October.
