Tyrese Maxey in awe of LeBron James’ passion after 22 seasons in the NBA

“I think the biggest thing I can take from him is just his passion for the game. I’m extremely passionate—I love basketball. Anytime I get the chance to do something related to the game, I want to do it. But this man is going into Year 23, and he was working out, talking, and staying involved like it was Year Five for him. That’s amazing to see. Anyone who watches him—whether it’s during workouts or in a game—should feel honored. It’s incredible,” Maxey said.

The 2024–25 season was a breakout campaign for the 24-year-old, as he averaged 26.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.8 steals in roughly 37.7 minutes per game. He recorded career highs in points, steals, minutes played, field goals made, and field goals attempted—despite appearing in just 52 regular-season games, a career low.

Maxey’s stellar season earned him his first NBA All-Star selection and the 2024 NBA Most Improved Player award, further cementing his status as the new face of the 76ers franchise.

“I don’t even know how many times I’ve worked out with him now—that’s crazy to say. I guess that means I’m getting a little old too,” Maxey said with a laugh. “But it’s great work. He does a good job talking, being vocal, and helping out. I really appreciate him. He’s done a lot.”
