After Calvin Oftana’s injury, Troy Rosario is being eyed to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Gilas head coach Tim Cone is leaving the door open for his Barangay Ginebra San Miguel star to come in and fill the 12-man lineup.
“Anything is possible since the final 12 is still to be determined,” Cone said told Fastbreak.
This comes after Converge Fiberxers’ star rookie Juan Gomez de Liaño was tapped to fill the Gilas polo and has started training alongside former UP Fighting Maroons big man Quentin Millora-Brown.

Oftana is sidelined for at least four weeks due to a hamstring injury, which will mean he will miss Gilas’ Group A games against Guam.
Rosario is not a stranger to the national tea. He has been a regular part of Gilas’ Southeast Asian (SEA) Games squads in the past.
From 2015 to 2019, Rosario was a part of the gold-medal-winning Gilas teams, as well as a silver-medal run in 2021.
Oftana joins Kai Sotto on the injury list as the former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout still recovers from ACL surgery.
