After a litany of injuries plagued the team following a near-Grand Slam season, the TNT Tropang 5G are still looking to bolster their roster and trying to contend.
Their target? Former PBA Finals champion and MVP, Christian Standhardinger.
PBA insider Homer Sayson revealed that Tropang 5G have been eyeing the former All-Star for a while now, following the injuries of big man Poy Erram, who went down with an ACL tear last July.
However, Standhardinger’s rights still belong to Terrafirma Dyip, which is expecting a high price for the star’s release.

TNT boasts a frontcourt core of Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, Kelly Williams, and Henry Galinato, and has been on fire in the ongoing Philippine Cup, sitting in first place with four wins and only one loss.
Standhardinger last played in the PBA last season, averaging 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds before announcing his retirement last December.
The former No. 1 overall pick has won championships with San Miguel Beermen and Barangay San Miguel, as well as being hailed in the Mythical Team three times.
Standhardinger’s signing would be a sign that TNT is looking to extend its championship window in the PBA with stars Calvin Oftana, Rey Nambatac, Simon Enciso, and longtime captain Jayson Castro.
