TNC eliminates Twisted Minds from MPL PH Playoffs, snaps seven-year Top 4 drought

TNC Pro Team eked out a 3-2 victory over Twisted Minds to finish in the Top 4 for the first time in seven seasons in the MPL Philippines Season 16 playoffs at the Cuneta Astrodome on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The last time TNC finished in the Top 4 was in Season 9 after finishing third. The team has finished near the bottom of the standings for the past eight seasons until now/

TNC dominated the opening game to take the lead, but Twisted Minds gave a scintillating response in Game 2 to even the series.

Both teams went back and forth in Game 3 until Michael “MPtheKing” Endino stole the Lord at the 16th minute.

Twisted Minds were on their way to the series lead until TNC aggressively pushed the base, leading to a team wipe that eventually snatched the game, 2-1.

It was the same in Game 4 with both teams exchanging picks on one another; however, MPtheKing once again led Twisted Minds with 14 kills to force a decider.

Justine “Zaida” Palma utilized his signature pick, Fanny, in Game 5 and immediately made his mark after tallying six kills in seven minutes to give his team a commanding lead early.

All TNC needed was a second Lord capture to close out the match and end their years-long misery at the bottom of the standings.

TNC will next face top-seeded Aurora Gaking in the upper bracket at the same venue on Thursday, Oct. 23.
