Going into his 36th year of coaching, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel head coach Tim Cone has no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Rumors have been circulating that the 67-year-old and star Japeth Aguilar are set to retire next season.

Cone, however, quickly shut down the rumors and said that he still has a lot of years left coaching in the PBA.

“We both have a lot of basketball left in us, so that’s funny. That’s all I got to say.“I don’t know where it’s coming from,” Cone told Abante Sports.

With 25 championships, Cone is the PBA’s all-time winningest coach, with his most recent one coming in 2021 after steering the Gin Kings past the Meralco Bolts in the Governors’ Cup.

Cone won his first championship in 1991 with the Alaska Aces after beating his current team, Ginebra. He then continued the success as the Aces became the PBA’s “team of the 90s”, highlighted by a grand slam in 1996.

After coaching Alaska, Cone went on to coach for the Purefood franchise in 2011, where he would tap former Alaska stars as assistant coaches en route to another grand slam in 2014.

Cone is also currently the head coach of Gilas Pilipinas, leading them to their first Asian Games gold medal since 1962.
