Boxing has seen a fair share of what-ifs in its history. A litany of dream fights that failed to happen due to one reason or another. One of the dream matches fans have been salivating for in recent years is between the versatile Terrence Crawford and the legendary Manny Pacquiao.

However, Crawford revealed on X, that he himself wanted to fight the Filipino in 2015, but plans failed after Pacquiao’s promotion,s Top Rank apparently wanted him to fight more high-profile bouts.

“I tried to fight Manny Pacquiao way back in 2015, and they hid him from me, so I didn’t get too big too soon because they wanted to keep milking him because he was their cash cow,” Crawford wrote.

Crawford’s comments align with what happened in 2015, when Top Rank finally made a deal with Showtime Sports to hold another dream match in Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.

At that time, Crawford was still on his quest to capture his first undisputed crown in the Lightweight division, but was already a known name after he dismantled Yuriokis Gamboa.

However, a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight was still one of the most anticipated fights during that decade, even if the two fighters were arguably past their prime.

Now in 2025, a fight between Pacman and Bud looks unlikely after Crawford’s win against Canelo Alvarez for the undisputed Middleweight throne, and Pacquiao wanting to end his career with another world title at Welterweight.
