The PBA is not in UAAP standout Quentin Millora-Brown’s immediate plans as he eyes a stint in Europe

There is a great deal of hype and anticipation surrounding the upcoming Season 50 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Rookie Draft, with several highly rated young basketball prospects expected to enter their names into the draft.

It is understood that the likes of Michael Phillips, Rhenz Abando, and Jason Brickman, among others, are likely to be part of the PBA Rookie Draft, although no official confirmations have been made. However, one player who is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the country — Quentin Millora-Brown — will not be entering the draft or joining the league.

Millora-Brown signed a one-month contract with the Macau Black Bears to play in The Asian Tournament (TAT) and confirmed that after the contract ends, the PBA is not in his immediate plans, as he is eyeing a stint in Europe and is eager to play in one of the European leagues.

“It was a great opportunity. It was to get some games before the start of the next season as well, so it’s an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. As of right now, my agent and I decided that it’s not a path that we are going for. My contract is only through the end of the month,” Millora-Brown said in a media interaction.

“After that, I’m looking at signing a contract in Europe, but I just have to wait before this first contract ends. We will see what happens. Obviously, things change — maybe we will do that. But for the foreseeable future, the best path right now is looking at Europe and other options, just to advance my career as far as I can,” he added.

The Macau Bears are set to face the Philippine men’s national basketball team as part of their tune-up for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup on Monday, July 28, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The 24-year-old is part of the Macau squad and will be facing Gilas Pilipinas — which he believes is a great opportunity.

“It’s a great opportunity to play against Gilas. Right now, that’s what I can do,” Millora-Brown concluded.

A Filipino-American, Millora-Brown is currently under evaluation by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), which is working behind the scenes to secure his eligibility to play for the Philippine men’s national basketball team as a local.

The SBP has been actively gathering documents to prove that Millora-Brown qualifies under FIBA rules. He has reportedly submitted a copy of his Philippine passport, which was issued before he turned 16 — a key requirement for dual citizens to be classified as locals under FIBA eligibility guidelines.
