Terrence Romeo is eager to stay in the PBA despite interest from overseas clubs

Three-time Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) champion Terrence Romeo is eager to remain in the league amid interest from various overseas clubs, as his contract with Terrafirma Dyip is set to expire soon.

Romeo, who was traded by the San Miguel Beermen to Terrafirma—along with Vic Manuel—in exchange for Andreas Cahilig and Juami Tiongson in November last year, is currently keeping his options open as his contract expires this August.

Kung alam kong fit ako sa kanila, makakatulong ako sa kanila, at magtitiwala sila sa akin,” Romeo said during an event in the city.

Ganun lang ‘yon,” he added.

The 33-year-old added that he will explore overseas options if no PBA offers come his way in the near future. The Japan B. League has emerged as a top destination for Filipino basketball stars, along with the Korean Basketball League (KBL).

Romeo has missed the entire Philippine Cup for Terrafirma as he continues to recover from a knee injury. The Dyip have two more games remaining and are already out of playoff contention, with the guard admitting he has no plans of playing for the club again.

When healthy, there is no doubt that Romeo would be a valuable addition to any team. Aside from winning three PBA titles, he is also a three-time PBA scoring champion, the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), a three-time PBA All-Star Game MVP, and a seven-time PBA All-Star, among other accolades.
