The newly inaugurated Tagaytay City Velodrome is set to make a grand entrance onto the international cycling stage, having been officially confirmed by the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC) as the host of the 2026 ACC Track Championships.

From March 25 to 31, 2026, the state-of-the-art facility will welcome approximately 300 track cyclists from no less than 30 Asian countries, marking a significant milestone for Philippine sports.

The confirmation, announced by ACC President Dato’ Amarjit Singh Gill, comes just days after the much-anticipated inauguration of the velodrome on June 23, coinciding with the Philippine Olympic Committee’s (POC) Olympic Day celebration. The event saw the presence of Olympic icons such as gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio, underscoring the national significance of the new venue.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who also heads the national cycling federation PhilCycling, expressed immense pride and acknowledged the challenge that lies ahead. “It’s an honor and a privilege, but it’s equally a challenge,” Tolentino stated.

“The tough task is up ahead because it’s been a while since we hosted a championship of such magnitude.” The last time the Philippines hosted an ACC championships was in 1995, with both road and track events taking place at the now-demolished Amoranto Velodrome in Quezon City and Subic.

The Tagaytay City Velodrome is a marvel of modern cycling infrastructure. Built to International Cycling Union (UCI) standards, the 250-meter indoor track features a Norwegian Spruce wood surface with an almost 43-degree angle at the turns, designed to provide optimal conditions for high-speed competition.

Its construction marks the Philippines’ entry into a select group of Asian nations, including Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, and India, that boast such world-class facilities.

Situated majestically along Crisanto de los Santos Avenue at the Tagaytay City Atrium, the velodrome is part of a larger sports complex. It sits adjacent to an equally UCI-standard and roofed BMX racing track – notably, the only covered BMX track in Asia – which previously hosted the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019 and an Asian championship.

The complex also includes a Combat Sports Center, skateboard and BMX park centers, and a track oval, solidifying Tagaytay City’s position as a burgeoning sports hub.

The hosting of the 2026 Asian Track Championships is expected to be a massive boost for track cycling in the Philippines. Not only will it showcase the country’s capability to stage major international events, but it will also serve as a vital training ground for Filipino cyclists aiming to qualify for future Olympic Games.

The event is also anticipated to contribute to local tourism and further establish Tagaytay as a premier destination for athletic excellence.

With its cutting-edge facilities and the strong support of the Asian Cycling Confederation, the Tagaytay Velodrome is poised to usher in a new era for Philippine cycling, inspiring a new generation of athletes and cementing the nation’s place on the continental cycling map.
