San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle and Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson have been named the National Basketball Association (NBA) Players of the Week for the Week 16 of the 2025-26 season.
Stephon Castle (Western Conference Player of Week)
The San Antonio Spurs continued their impressive surge in the 2025–26 NBA season, capping Week 16 with a perfect 3-0 record behind the stellar play of reigning Rookie of the Year Stephon Castle.
Castle was at the heart of San Antonio’s unbeaten week, averaging 24.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 3.0 steals per game while shooting a blistering 63 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. His all-around brilliance earned him Western Conference Player of the Week honors — the first such award of his young career.
The 21-year-old’s standout performance came in a marquee matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. Castle exploded for a career-high 40 points, adding 12 rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals in a historic triple-double effort. With that performance, he joined Spurs legend David Robinson as the only players in franchise history to record a 40-point triple-double. He also became just the third-youngest player in NBA history to accomplish the feat, placing his name alongside LeBron James and Luka Dončić on an elite list.
Castle’s recognition marks the first time a Spur has claimed Player of the Week honors since Victor Wembanyama captured the award in the opening week of the season, further underscoring San Antonio’s promising young core.

Jalen Johnson (Eastern Conference Player of Week)
Over in the Eastern Conference, Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson is making a compelling case as one of the league’s most versatile stars, even as the Hawks navigate a middling campaign. Johnson dominated Week 16, averaging 27.3 points, 12.0 rebounds, 11.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. His 11.3 assists per contest led all Eastern Conference players during that span, showcasing his evolution into a primary playmaker.
Johnson has now compiled 10 triple-doubles this season — the most among Eastern Conference players and the second-most in the NBA, trailing only Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokić, who has 18. Even more impressively, Johnson’s 10 triple-doubles set a new single-season franchise record for Atlanta, with no player in Hawks history ever reaching double digits in triple-doubles in a single campaign.
The dynamic forward is also one of just two players league-wide averaging at least 23.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists this season, joining Jokić in that exclusive statistical company.
For Johnson, the Week 16 citation marks his second Player of the Week award this season — further proof that despite Atlanta’s inconsistent results, his individual brilliance continues to shine brightly.
As the playoff race intensifies, both Castle and Johnson are proving that the league’s next generation of stars is already here — and thriving.
