Stephen Curry is ready to coach LeBron James as he takes on a new challenge: Golf

Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James and Golden State Warriors icon Stephen Curry have undoubtedly been the two biggest stars in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for well over a decade and remain global faces of the league.

LeBron and Curry were once known as fierce rivals on the court but have become on-court friends in recent years, particularly after representing Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, where they led the country to gold in the men’s basketball competition.

Recently, it emerged that LeBron has developed a strong interest in golf — a sport Curry is famously passionate about. The 37-year-old Curry has even offered to coach his former rival, given his own reputation as a skilled amateur golfer.

“He (LeBron) is obsessed with it. He’s out there a lot more than I actually thought. He’ll be right out of the jump. So he gets it, which is great. But yeah, we’ll definitely get out and play. I’m an amateur, like, swing coach. I feel like I can always, you know, help somebody else with their swing even though I probably don’t know what I’m talking about. But he seems like a very good project to have, for sure,” Curry said in a media interaction.

On the basketball court, it still seems unlikely that Curry and LeBron will ever team up in the NBA — despite reports from 2024 that the Warriors had expressed interest in acquiring LeBron and had even approached the Lakers’ front office.

“I believe that the Warriors, who have shown an interest in acquiring James dating to the February 2024 trade deadline some 18 months ago, will remain in the mix if James ever does reach the point that he’s looking for a last hurrah elsewhere,” NBA insider Mark Stein wrote.

LeBron, for his part, recently exercised his $52.6 million player option with the Lakers for the 2025–26 season — a season many believe could be his last in the NBA. At 40 years old, it’s widely considered unlikely that he will move to another team, and retirement after his final campaign in Los Angeles seems imminent.

Curry, meanwhile, is also nearing the twilight of his illustrious career, although he has maintained that he doesn’t plan to hang up his sneakers anytime soon.
