With only three titles on the schedule for Sibol, the Philippine Esports Organization (PESO) executive director, Marlon Marcelo, remains convinced the delegation can turn in another strong medal haul, banking on the country’s historic success in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and competitive showings in Arena of Valor.
Marcelo addressed the media during the SEA Games send-off, emphasizing that the federation deliberately focused its efforts on titles where the Philippines has the strongest chance of reaching the podium. This time, only MLBB (men’s and women’s) and AOV made the cut.
“It’s a matter of prioritizing our resources,” Marcelo said. “We’re hoping for 3 out of 3 podium finishes.”
MLBB remains the foundation of Sibol’s confidence. The men’s team, powered by Team Liquid’s roster, is eyeing an unprecedented fourth straight gold medal.
“We want to defend the gold,” Marcelo said. “No pressure, just confidence in our world-class athletes.”

The women’s MLBB squad carries a different motivation: payback. The team fell short in the previous SEA Games and settled for silver.
“We want revenge. We’re aiming to reclaim that gold,” he added.
Arena of Valor presents the biggest challenge, with host Thailand expected to dominate again. But Sibol is keeping expectations grounded yet hopeful.
Despite a smaller delegation, PESO believes the Philippines’ esports pedigree, particularly in MLBB, gives Sibol a real shot at another memorable SEA Games campaign.
