Shai Gilgeous-Alexander headlines 2025 All-NBA First Team; LeBron and Curry make it to the All-NBA Second Team

The National Basketball Association (NBA) recently announced its selections for the 2024–25 All-NBA First and Second Teams, with newly crowned Most Valuable Player (MVP) Shai Gilgeous-Alexander headlining the First Team alongside Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokić.

 

In addition to Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokić, the All-NBA First Team includes Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell. Notably, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokić, Antetokounmpo, and Tatum all received First Team votes on all 100 ballots from a global media panel.

 

 

2024-25 All-NBA First Team:

 

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks)
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder)
  • Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets)
  • Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers)
  • Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)

The 2024–25 season also marked the second year of the league’s 65-game minimum requirement to be eligible for awards and honors. Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James made the All-NBA Second Team, extending his record to 21 career selections, having been named to either the First, Second, or Third Team in every season since 2004–05. Golden State Warriors legend Stephen Curry earned his 11th All-NBA selection, tying Kevin Durant and Chris Paul for the second-most selections among active players.

  • Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves)
  • LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

 2024-25 All-NBA Third Team:

 

  • Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons)
  • Karl-Anthony Towns (New York Knicks)
  • Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers)
  • Jalen Willams (Oklahoma City Thunder)
  • James Harden (Los Angeles Clippers)

Top players who failed to qualify due to not meeting the 65-game minimum included Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant (62 games), Lakers guard Luka Dončić (50 games), San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama (46 games), and Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving (50 games).
