Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell have been named the National Basketball Association (NBA) Players of the Week for the Week 5 of the 2025-26 season.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Western Conference Player of Week)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to show exactly why he was named last season’s NBA Most Valuable Player, picking up right where he left off and powering the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder to a perfect 4-0 record for the week of November 17–23.

Gilgeous-Alexander delivered dominant two-way performances throughout the stretch, averaging 31.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game while shooting an impressive 60 percent from the field. His consistency and leadership have been crucial for the Thunder, who remain atop the NBA Western Conference standings despite the absence of key contributor Jalen Williams.

The 26-year-old’s stellar run earned him his second NBA Player of the Week honor of the 2025–26 season — and the seventh of his career — further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier talents.

With Gilgeous-Alexander setting the tone, Oklahoma City shows no signs of slowing down as the franchise pushes forward in its pursuit of back-to-back championships, anchored by the same poise and intensity that define its title defense.

Donovan Mitchell (Eastern Conference Player of Week)

The Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as one of the NBA’s most exciting teams this season, and star guard Donovan Mitchell is a major reason they sit fourth in the Eastern Conference standings.

Mitchell powered Cleveland to a 3–1 record for the week of November 17–23, posting a team-best 31.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.3 steals in roughly 34.3 minutes per game. He was the only Eastern Conference player to average at least 30.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists during that span. The 29-year-old continues to deliver an elite campaign, averaging a career-high 30.8 points—fifth-best in the league—alongside 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.4 steals this season.

Mitchell is also one of just four NBA players currently averaging at least 30.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists, joining former MVPs Nikola Jokić, Luka Dončić, and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

His superb week earned him his first NBA Player of the Week recognition of the season and the ninth of his career, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier offensive forces.
