Rain or Shine’s Yeng Guiao admits the club are feeling the absence of the injured Felix Lemetti

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have enjoyed a strong Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup group stage campaign, as evidenced by their current fifth-placed standing in the table.

Rain or Shine continued their good form in the Philippine Cup on Wednesday, June 4, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City by defeating Terrafirma Dyip 94-85. What made the win even more impressive is that they emerged victorious without key guard Felix Lemetti, who is currently sidelined due to a fracture in his left hand.

It is understood that Lemetti is ruled out for at least six weeks due to the fracture and Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao admitted that they missed the star guard despite their win over Terrafirma.

“Malaking bagay pagkawala kasi maganda na ang laro ni Felix. I don’t know if you noticed pero we added minutes to his playing time. We have given him a lot of starts sa mga games namin. Binigyan din namin siya ng opportunities mag-finish ng mga laro,” Guiao said in the post match press conference.

The Filipino-Swedish guard has established himself as a key part of the Elasto Painters’ lineup, averaging 6.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in approximately 18.75 minutes of gametime per game.

“He was just really getting into his groove noong nangyari ‘yon. ‘Yong epekto, medyo bumagal kami. Kasi sa Felix, kapag nagdala ng bola parang kangkarot ‘yon. Ang bilis, eh. Natural sa kaniyang mabiis siya,” he added.

The Elasto Painters will have to continue to manage in Lemetti’s absence as they still have two games left in the group stage of the Philippine Cup. They have two tough assignments before the playoff stage starts as they face PBA powerhouses, San Miguel Beermen and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
