The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Tuesday, July 15, significantly strengthened their roster by signing veteran guard Stanley Pringle to a two-year deal after he became an unrestricted free agent.

The Elasto Painters announced Pringle’s signing on their social media platforms, stating:

“Welcome to the Rain or Shine family, Stanley Pringle. We are excited to announce that the former No. 1 overall pick in 2014 and four-time PBA champion is joining the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters after signing a two-year deal as a free agent. With his talent and championship experience, he will be a valuable addition to the team as we chase greater heights in Season 50. Let’s get to work, Stanley!”

Rain or Shine head coach Yeng Guiao welcomed the signing, lauding the experience and stability the veteran will bring to the squad.

“Malaking bagay ‘yung experience ni Stanley, lalo na to a young team like us. May asim pa ‘yan. May asim pang magpipiga diyan,” Guiao said during a media interaction.

Pringle had previously joined the Terrafirma Dyip on July 13, 2024, along with Christian Standhardinger and a 2023 first-round pick from Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, in exchange for Isaac Go, Stephen Holt, and another 2023 first-round pick. He averaged 13.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for Terrafirma in the Philippine Cup. However, with the team’s future uncertain, his contract was not renewed, allowing him to enter free agency.

The seasoned Pringle brings a wealth of experience to a Rain or Shine roster filled with young talent, including Adrian Nocum, Gian Mamuyac, Anton Asistio, Andrei Caracut, Keith Datu, and Santi Santillan—all of whom were instrumental in the team’s run to the Philippine Cup semifinals.

Pringle is no stranger to playing under Guiao, having been part of the Philippine men’s national basketball team during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta.

“Naglaro na siya under me sa Gilas Pilipinas, so kabisado niya na rin naman ako,” Guiao concluded.

A Filipino-American, Pringle began his professional career in Belgium with the Leuven Bears and also played in Poland, Ukraine, and Indonesia before being selected as the first overall pick by NorthPort Batang Pier in the 2014 PBA Draft.

Respected throughout the league, Pringle is a four-time PBA champion, the 2015 PBA Rookie of the Year, 2020 Best Player of the Conference, 2018 scoring champion, and a seven-time PBA All-Star, among numerous other accolades.
