The Capital1 Solar Spikers continued their impressive turnaround in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference, sweeping the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in straight sets, 25–23, 26–24, 25–19, on Tuesday, November 4, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The victory marked Capital1’s second consecutive win, further cementing the young squad’s reputation as a legitimate contender in the conference.

One player who has found new life with the Solar Spikers is middle blocker Rachel Austero, who joined the team in June this year. After previous stints with the Petro Gazz Angels, Chery Tiggo Crossovers, and PLDT High Speed Hitters, Austero said she has finally found a place she can call “home.”

Notably, Austero had to battle for playing time in her former teams alongside the likes of Jaja Santiago and Maika Ortiz with Chery Tiggo, and Majoy Baron, Mika Reyes, and Dell Palomata at PLDT.

“Actually, coming from another team. Siyempre, may mga veterans and ates ko dun. It’s so nice to gain their trust, coach Jorge’s trust. Ang saya lang na parang included ka, so I found a home here, and it’s so nice. People here are so welcoming. Ang dami ko pang natutunan,” Austero said in a media interaction.

Austero tallied eight points in Capital1’s victory over Choco Mucho before exiting the latter part of the game after a minor injury due to a bad fall on the court. Despite the setback, she remained in high spirits.

“I mean, words can’t explain yung excitement. Siguro yung naramdaman ko, emotions ko ngayon. Halo-halo because yun, yung na-cut actually yung shin ko and everything. Pero ‘yung papunta kami sa dulo, naikita ko yung fighting spirit and yung camaraderie ng lahat.

“As in, like, ang sarap, ang sarap na part ganun. And also, if you really trust the process and trust yung system ni coach, andale, dumadali yung buong laro,” she concluded.

The Solar Spikers’ resurgence lifted them to No. 3 in Pool A and fifth overall in the Reinforced Conference standings. The PVL recently released the complete schedule for the second round of eliminations, which will feature the top teams from Pools A and B battling for semifinal berths.

Austero and the Solar Spikers will look to maintain their momentum when they face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Tuesday, November 11, at the FilOil EcoOil Arena.
