PLDT seeks to extend 10-game winning streak against Kobe Shinwa in PVL Invitational

The PLDT High Speed Hitters have carried their winning momentum from the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour preseason championship into the ongoing PVL Invitational Conference, where they remain unbeaten.

PLDT has won all three of its matches so far and will look to extend its 10-game winning streak when it faces Japanese guest squad Kobe Shinwa University on Monday, August 25, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Head coach Rald Ricafort admitted he had long anticipated a clash with a Japanese team, eager to test his system against their trademark discipline. Kobe Shinwa made a strong impression in its debut, sweeping ZUS Coffee in straight sets last Saturday, also at Philsports Arena.

“At least it lessens the difficulty of the tough match we were anticipating. Although every game is still a challenge, now there is only one Japanese team left,” Ricafort said. “After Kobe Shinwa University, we still have ZUS Coffee, so we cannot relax. We need to give our absolute all.”

Ricafort will have the luxury of a complete lineup, with key players returning from national team duties. The comebacks of Alleiah Malaluan, Dell Palomata, Kim Kianna Dy, Kim Fajardo, and import Savannah Davison make PLDT one of the most dangerous contenders in the Invitational Conference.

Kobe Shinwa, however, is not shying away from the challenge.

“I’m very interested in that game, and I’m looking forward to seeing how well our team will perform. I will do my best,” said head coach Kiyokazu Yamamoto.

The Invitational Conference follows a single-round robin format, with only the top two teams advancing to the finals on Sunday, August 31—raising the stakes for every match.
