A versatile left-handed guard, Harper is known for his scoring ability, playmaking, and potential as a two-way player. He possesses a larger frame for a guard, standing at 6’6″ with a 6′ 10.5″ wingspan, which aids him on both ends of the court.

College Career (Rutgers Scarlet Knights): Harper played one season of college basketball for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2024-2025). As a freshman, he averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game in 29 games.

He was recognized for his outstanding debut season, earning Third-team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Freshman Team honors in 2025. Harper chose Rutgers over other prominent programs like Duke, Kansas, Indiana, and Auburn, making him the highest-rated recruit in the program’s history.

High School Career (Don Bosco Prep): A consensus five-star recruit and one of the top players in the 2024 class, Harper attended Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey. In his junior year, he averaged 24.9 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals per game, earning the Boys Basketball Player of the Year award from NJ.com.

During his senior season, he led Don Bosco Prep to a 29-3 record and a NJSIAA Non-Public A state championship, averaging 22.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He was named Morgan Wootten National Player of the Year, McDonald’s All-American Co-MVP, and Jordan Brand Classic MVP in 2024.

His ability to create shots and his footwork are considered advanced for his age. He is also noted for his competitive nature on defense and his vertical athleticism, despite being described as a bit slow defensively at times.

Family Background: Basketball runs deep in the Harper family. His father, Ron Harper, is a former NBA player who won five NBA championships. His mother, Maria Harper, played college basketball and coached Dylan in youth leagues and at Don Bosco Prep.

His older brother, Ron Harper Jr., also played college basketball at Rutgers and has played in the NBA. Dylan’s maternal grandfather represented the Philippines in jai alai at the 1968 Summer Olympics.
