With the theme “Leap High, Flip Strong,” the Philippines is gearing up to stage one of the biggest international gymnastics gatherings of the year — the 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships, set for November 20 to 24 at the Manila Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.

For the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines (GAP), this event is more than just a sporting spectacle — it’s a national statement of ambition, resilience, and youth empowerment.

“‘Leap High, Flip Strong!’ is more than just a campaign slogan. It’s a rallying cry of our 24-million Filipino youth to mount a leap of faith especially in these challenging times, and to explore and soar high in search for growth and development,” said GAP president Cynthia Carrion, who has been instrumental in bringing the tournament to Manila.

Carrion, a longtime advocate of gymnastics excellence and mentor to Paris Olympic double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, said the slogan embodies the athleticism and courage needed to compete at the highest level of junior gymnastics — traits she hopes to see in the next generation of Filipino gymnasts.

Nearly 900 athletes from 77 countries will converge in Manila for the FIG-sanctioned tournament, which also carries the support of the Asian Gymnastics Union. The event is expected to draw international attention as it unfolds within the bustling leisure and entertainment district beside NAIA Terminal 3.

“The 3rd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships is going to be a festive celebration of movement, artistry, grace, exuberance and elegance of our budding gymnasts that will surely captivate a global audience,” Carrion added.

The Local Organizing Committee is chaired by Megaworld REIT chairman Kevin Tan, with William Vincent “Vinny” Marcos, son of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., serving as co-chair. The Pasay City government, led by Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, is also extending full logistical support to ensure a smooth hosting.

Participants and officials will be housed in some of Manila’s finest accommodations, with Manila Marriott, Sheraton Manila, Hilton Manila, Belmont, Hotel Okura, Savoy, and Hilton Express serving as the official hotel partners.

As the countdown begins, the Philippines is not just preparing to welcome the world — it’s ready to leap high, flip strong, and prove that it belongs among the global leaders in gymnastics.
