The Philippine Muay Thai team showcased its rising talent and artistry on the continental stage, delivering a golden Sunday at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain with a three-gold, two-silver medal haul at the Grand Hall of the Exhibition World Bahrain.
Leading the charge were Zeth Gabriel Bueno and Lyle Anie Ngina, who reigned supreme in their respective wai kru categories — a discipline that highlights the traditional pre-fight ritual blending balance, grace, and precision.
Bueno shone brightest in the boys’ 14–15 wai kru final, earning 9.17 points to claim gold over Thailand’s Daonuea Phuangmali (9.0) and Malaysia’s Jaethan Jonathan Quan (8.53).
Ngina followed suit with a composed and elegant display in the girls’ 14–15 wai kru, posting 9.0 points to outscore Malaysia’s Auryelle Xzandra Bobby (8.8) and Thailand’s Kittima Yotsombat (8.6).

The Philippines’ third gold came in spectacular fashion from the team mai muay category, where the duo of Jan Brix Ramiscal and Tyron Jamborillo executed a near-flawless routine to score 9.20 points, edging out the United Arab Emirates’ Yousef Rakan and Aziz Alhammadi (8.30) and Malaysia’s Bethany Yun Yunn Lai and Jaethan Jonathan Quan (8.27).
Ramiscal, however, experienced both triumph and heartbreak on the same day. In the boys’ 16–17 final, he delivered another standout performance that tied Thailand’s Pimpichien Chaiwan with an average of 9.23 points, but narrowly lost the gold on tiebreak as Chaiwan’s lowest judge score of 92 surpassed Ramiscal’s 91. Iraq’s Sajjad Hamzah Ali Rabeeh settled for bronze with 8.47 points.
In the girls’ 16–17 category, Jasmine Dagame added another silver to the Philippines’ collection with 8.93 points, finishing just behind Thailand’s Rungthipwa Koakaw (9.17) and ahead of Malaysia’s Ariesya Dania Binti Abdul Latip (8.63).
The strong showing further underscored the Philippines’ growth in youth-level Muay Thai, with its young athletes combining technical mastery and cultural expression to make their mark among Asia’s best.
