Pedro Taduran getting ready for potential Oscar Collazo unification bout

Pedro Taduran is back in the gym as talks swirl about a possible showdown with Oscar Collazo for a big unification bout in the Minimumweight division.

The reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion is already preparing, physically and mentally, for what could be the biggest fight of his career.

“You have to be ready just in case your team gets a call for an offer to fight,” Taduran said.

Taduran’s recent performances give real weight to his unification ambitions. He reclaimed the IBF minimumweight title in July 2024, stopping Ginjiro Shigeoka by ninth-round TKO in Japan earlier last year.

He then defended the title successfully in May 2025, overcoming Shigeoka again via split decision in an intense 12-round rematch in Osaka.

The possibility of a fight with Collazo, who holds the World Boxing Association and World Boxing Organization titles, would elevate Taduran’s career to another level.

 A unification bout would not only pit two elite minimumweight champions against each other but also give Filipino boxing fans a chance to see their country represented in a high-stakes, world-title fight.

Still, Taduran’s road ahead won’t be easy, especially after fellow Filipino world champion Melvin Jerusalem is looking for revenge against Collazo.
