PBA legend James Yap hinted at a possible return to the PBA in the JCY League, a league organized by his fan club on Monday, Sept. 23.

Yap last played for Blackwater Bossing in the 2024 season when he averaged 4.1 points while shooting his career-best from beyond the arc with 47%.

“See you guys next year… and kita-kits tayo sa PBA,” said Yap.

“Basta abangan niyo lang,” he added.

The 43-year-old is currently serving his term as first-district councilor of San Juan, elected in 2023.

Yap also played in the Fil-Chi Athletic Association, where he steered the Lamtex Pipes to a championship.

Drafted 2nd overall in the 2004 draft, Yap played for the Purefood franchise for 12 years, winning seven championships and two MVP awards, before being shipped to the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a blockbuster trade for Paul Lee.

Blackwater, who recently drafted Dalph Panopi with the 3rd overall pick, holds the playing rights to Yap if any deal were to be made for him to return to the league.
