Oscar Collazo eyeing either Pedro Taduran, Melvin Jerusalem for early 2026 bout

Filipino boxing fans may be in for an exciting start to 2026 as world champion Oscar Collazo has set his sights on a potential showdown against either Pedro Taduran or Melvin Jerusalem. 

The Puerto Rican fighter, who currently holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Minimumweight titles, revealed his intention to pursue a unification clash in the early part of the year.

Collazo emphasized that his priority is to face the best in the division and cement his legacy at the 105-pound division.

“I want to face the best fighters and show the world who is the true champion,” Collazo said. “Pedro Taduran and Melvin Jerusalem are both top-level fighters, and I am ready for either one.”

On the Philippine side, both Taduran and Jerusalem have expressed their openness to a fight with Collazo.

Taduran, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Minimumweight champion, has been vocal about his desire to unify belts and sees a potential matchup with Collazo as a career-defining opportunity. 

“Facing Oscar Collazo would be a dream. I’ve been working hard for this chance, and I will give it my all,” Taduran said.

Similarly, World Boxing Council (WBC) titleholder Melvin Jerusalem has also indicated his willingness to face the Puerto Rican champion and believes that a clash with Collazo could solidify his status as one of the top fighters in the division.

“I’m ready to take on Collazo. Whoever gets the opportunity first, I will be prepared,” Jerusalem stated.

Collazo and Jerusalem have fought before, with the Puerto Rican taking a referee technical decision victory to capture the Filipino’s then-WBO title.

Promoters and teams on both sides have reportedly started preliminary discussions to explore the possibility of a unification fight. 

While details such as venue, purse split, and exact date are yet to be finalized, Collazo has expressed optimism that a bout could materialize early next year.
