NLEX’s Robert Bolick named PBA Player of the Week for the period of June 4 to 8

The NLEX Road Warriors have enjoyed a brilliant run in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup, winning eight and losing just two of their 10 games to sit at the top of the standings.

Central to their impressive form has been the performance of star point guard Robert Bolick, who has led from the front both on the court and in terms of leadership. Bolick’s clutch performances and charisma have earned him the nickname “HaliBerto”—a nod to Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, known for his ability to deliver in crunch time.

The guard has been in fine form for NLEX ever since joining the team in 2023, and he delivered again during the Road Warriors’ 107–99 comeback victory over the Magnolia Hotshots on Friday, June 6, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Bolick finished with 25 points, nine rebounds, and five assists to help his team erase a 19-point deficit and clinch a twice-to-beat advantage in the upcoming Philippine Cup quarterfinals.

His all-around performance earned him the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week honor for the period of June 4 to 8. He beat out competition from San Miguel Beermen’s CJ Perez and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Japeth Aguilar for the weekly accolade, which is awarded by sports journalists covering the PBA for broadsheets, tabloids, and online platforms.

The 29-year-old deflected credit and chose to praise his teammates for their role in the team’s strong run in the Philippine Cup.

“I have to take care of the ball. Pero kagandahan naman, we are a team. Masama ang laro ko pero nag-pick up yung iba,” Bolick stated.

This marks Bolick’s second Player of the Week honor of the season, with his first coming in late January during the Commissioner’s Cup. The guard joins an illustrious list—including TNT Tropang Giga’s Calvin Oftana, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters’ Santi Santillan, NorthPort Batang Pier’s Joshua Munzon, Meralco Bolts’ Bong Quinto, and Magnolia Hotshots’ Zavier Lucero—as players who have won more than one Player of the Week award this season.

Bolick will look to continue his strong form in NLEX’s final elimination-round game against the NorthPort Batang Pier on Wednesday, June 11, at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
