NLEX Road Warriors reward JB Bahio with a two-year contract extension after breakout performance

Filipino center JB Bahio has committed his short-term future to the NLEX Road Warriors by signing a two-year contract extension with the franchise just hours before their Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup quarterfinal clash against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday, June 18.

The contract signing took place at the NLEX compound in Balintawak and was attended by NLEX officer-in-charge Luis S. Renon and Road Warriors team governor Ronald T. Dulatre.

Bahio admitted during a media interaction that the extension came as a surprise, considering he only joined the Road Warriors as a free agent last November.

“Sobrang happy and blessed po ako na nagbunga ‘yong mga extra work at lahat ng pinaghirapan ko,” Bahio said.

The 27-year-old has impressed in his short stint with NLEX and has been a key contributor in the ongoing Philippine Cup, averaging 10.9 points and 7.4 rebounds per game during the elimination round. The 6-foot-5 big man has played a significant role in the team’s fourth-place finish in the standings with an 8–4 win-loss record.

With averages of 11 points and 7 rebounds a game, Nlex has signed 27-year-old 6’5 big man Jb Bahio to a 2-year contract extension.

Team governor Ronald T. Dulatre praised Bahio’s commitment and development during his time with the team.

“We are glad to have JB on board for the next two years. This is to repay his hard work and positive attitude. At just 27 years old, he hasn’t even reached his prime. The best is yet to come,” Dulatre said.

Bahio expressed gratitude for the trust shown by the NLEX management and vowed to give his all on the court in return.

“Buhos na po talaga lahat, lalo na ngayon sa tiwalang ibinigay nila sa akin. Talagang gagawin ko po ang lahat — hassle, rebound, o kung ano mang kailangang gawin para makuha namin ‘yung game na ‘to,” he added.

However, Bahio could not help his team advance in the quarterfinals, as NLEX fell to Rain or Shine, 89–92, on Wednesday, June 18, at the Philsports Arena.
