The San Beda Red Lions clinched their 24th title in the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament after taking care of their rivals, Letran Knights, 83-71, in Game 2 of the Season 101 Finals at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 13.
Bryan Sajonia grabbed the MVP honors after tallying 21 points, nine rebounds, and a clutch three-pointer of Letran’s Kevin Santos in crunch time that allowed the Red Lions to secure the game and the title.
“Hats off to our players, especially our veterans, for stepping up and leading this squad back to the championship,” head coach Yuri Escueta said.

Alongside Sajonia, fellow senior Yukien Andrada also recorded 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, and even three blocks in his final game at the collegiate level before going to the Magnolia Hotshots in the PBA.
Meanwhile, Letran relied on the efforts of rookie Titing Manalili, who finished with 15 points, seven assists, and six rebounds, while Kevin Santos added 14 points and four steals.
In the bronze-medal game, the UPHSD Altas secured their best finish since Season 80 after toppling the Allen Liwag-less Benilde Blazers, 87-75.
