NBA trade rumors: Miami Heat eyeing Kawhi Leonard, Ja Morant

With the regular season heating up, reports are circulating that the Miami Heat are looking to bolster their roster amid an electric start to the 2025-2026 season.

Kawhi Leonard and Ja Morant are among the candidates that the Heat and team president Pat Riley are looking to acquire to help the team reach the next level this season.

NBA insiders Rob Murrow and Jake Fischer reported that Miami is gauging interest among the league’s disgruntled stars, which even includes Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Heat, led by Bam Adebayo and offseason acquisition Norman Powell, have burst to a 14-10 record to sit near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.

Meanwhile, Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies have failed to gain momentum with an 11-13 slate despite the stellar play from their rookie Cedric Coward and big man Jaren Jackson Jr.

Leonard’s Los Angeles Clippers have been worse with a 6-18 record at the bottom of the Western Conference standings. Their struggles have mainly stemmed from injuries, specifically those affecting Bradley Beal, who was acquired in the offseason as a replacement for Powell. 

The Heat’s interest in the two stars aims to fill the primary scorer role left by Jimmy Butler, who was dealt near the trade deadline last season.

Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Pelle Larsson are among the Heat’s trade assets if they were to pursue a star, as well as having their first-round pick this year.
