Mikee Romero makes history as he enters the top 25 of the World Polo Tour amateur rankings 

Mikee Romero has achieved a significant milestone in the world of polo by entering the top 25 of the World Polo Tour amateur rankings. This accomplishment underscores his dedication and skill in the sport, highlighting his rise among the world’s elite amateur players.

In 2023, he led the GlobalPort Polo team to a remarkable comeback victory in the Tommy Hitchcock Jr. Legacy Memorial, overcoming a nine-goal deficit to win 17-13 against Travieso. This victory was particularly notable as it was GlobalPort’s first appearance in the World Polo League.

Further cementing his legacy, Romero’s team made history by becoming the first Asia-based squad to compete in the prestigious US Open Polo Championship in 2025. Competing alongside world-class players like Argentina’s Barto Castagnola, the team showcased their prowess on the international stage. 

Mikee Romero has reached a new high in his polo career, now ranked World No. 24 in the World Polo Tour (WPT) amateur rankings, with 110 WPT points. This major leap comes after his standout debut at the 2025 Gauntlet of Polo, widely regarded as the sport’s most prestigious and demanding tournament series.

By achieving this, Romero has surpassed notable regional players, including:

• Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha of Thailand

• Prince Mateen Bolkiah of Brunei

This makes Romero the highest-ranked amateur polo player in Southeast Asia—a historic first for the Philippines.
