Manny Pacquiao claims Floyd Mayweather is “scared to death” of a rematch

American undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao are widely regarded as two of the greatest fighters in boxing history, thanks to their remarkable achievements in the ring.

Mayweather emerged victorious, winning by unanimous decision with scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110 — solidifying his legacy as arguably the greatest boxer of his generation.

He retired from professional boxing in August 2017, shifting his focus to exhibition matches for substantial paydays. Pacquiao, on the other hand, recently announced his comeback from retirement at age 46 to challenge current WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

Speculation about a possible rematch between the two legends has circulated among fans and pundits. However, with Mayweather now 48, such a rematch remains unlikely. Pacquiao recently stirred headlines by accusing his longtime rival of ducking a second fight.

“I don’t think Floyd Mayweather will fight me again. He is scared to death to fight again — that’s what I’m thinking. It’s a huge fight, but there’s a lot of reasons or alibis he didn’t make the rematch with me. Lots of excuses, I guess,” Pacquiao said in an interview with Covers.

Mayweather retired with a perfect 50-0 record, and if he ever agrees to another showdown with Pacquiao, it’s expected to take place in an exhibition format rather than a sanctioned professional bout.
