Magnolia’s injury concerns continue after Paul Lee’s hamstring injury

The Magnolia Hotshots’ injury woes continue just before the postseason after veteran guard Paul Lee sustained a left hamstring injury during the team’s PBA Philippine Cup matchup against Rain or Shine on Tuesday in Bahrain.

Lee went down late in the second quarter after appearing to pull up while running in transition. He was immediately substituted and later ruled out for the remainder of the contest, finishing with eight points, two assists, and a rebound.

The veteran scorer was seen on the bench with ice applied to his left leg, and team officials later confirmed the injury as a hamstring strain.

No timetable for his return was immediately provided, as Lee is expected to undergo further evaluation.

Lee’s setback compounds Magnolia’s injury woes, coming shortly after rookie guard Jerom Lastimosa also came out of the game in the first period after rolling his ankle.

Despite Lee’s early exit, Magnolia continued to battle Rain or Shine, leaning on contributions from its remaining backcourt rotation to stay competitive.

The absence of Lee, however, was felt on both ends of the floor, particularly in terms of shot creation and perimeter scoring, leading to a 101-92 loss that gave the Elastopainters a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.

The Hotshots are currently navigating a tightly contested Philippine Cup standings race, making player availability a key concern as the Philippine Cup’s conclusion draws closer.
