Kyrie Irving honors Kobe Bryant in latest signature sneaker

Kyrie Irving has been all out about his admiration for Kobe Bryant. From emulating the late NBA legend’s on-court skills to embracing the “Mamba Mentality.” 

Irving has consistently paid honor to the player who inspired much of his basketball journey. Now, that reverence takes physical form with his latest signature sneaker, the ANTA KAI 3 “Mentality.”

Unveiled during an exclusive launch at the FilOil Centre in San Juan last February 16, the KAI 3 “Mentality” is more than just a performance shoe. 

The KAI 3 ‘Mentality’ is a tribute to Kobe Bryant,” said Mikko Abello, ANTA Philippines’ marketing head, highlighting the sneaker’s symbolic significance.

From the moment it comes out of the box, the sneaker speaks volumes. Its colorway pays direct homage to Bryant’s fifth NBA championship in 2010, blending striking hues reminiscent of the Black Mamba’s iconic style. 

A dog tag featuring two intertwined snakes nods to Bryant’s alter ego, while the upper is emblazoned with the names of cities where Irving has made NBA All-Star appearances, linking his personal journey to the legacy of his mentor.

The KAI 3 “Mentality” also delivers a lifestyle counterpart created exclusively for Irving. Its segmented sole is divided into four symbolic plates, each representing foundational principles tied to his personal and cultural values, translating the same mindset into an off-court context.
