Former NBA champion Kyle Kuzma returned to Manila on August 19 for his “KuzManila II” tour, marking his second visit to the country. The stop, which runs until August 20, is part of his ongoing Asia tour that recently took him through China.
Kuzma shared updates on his Instagram story upon arriving, including a quick workout session where he was seen putting up shots in the gym—showing that even while on tour, he remains locked into his training.
The 30-year-old forward was warmly welcomed by Filipino fans once again, a testament to the following he has built since his early years with the Los Angeles Lakers. Just a year ago, Kuzma made his first trip to the Philippines where he connected with fans through basketball clinics, meet-and-greet events, and media appearances.
During that visit, he reflected on lessons he learned under the mentorship of the late Kobe Bryant, while also opening up about how his personal style has evolved alongside his career on the court.
Now preparing for his ninth NBA season, Kuzma is looking to build on a strong debut year with the Milwaukee Bucks after arriving in a midseason trade for Khris Middleton. In 33 games with Milwaukee, he posted averages of 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, while shooting 33 percent from three-point range.
This offseason presents new challenges and opportunities for Kuzma and the Bucks. Milwaukee lost Damian Lillard and Brook Lopez in the summer shuffle, but the addition of Myles Turner to pair with two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo reshapes the team’s frontcourt. For Kuzma, the adjustment will be key as he continues to carve out a role on a squad still intent on chasing championships.
As for Manila, his return is another reminder of the Philippines’ deep passion for basketball and the growing tradition of NBA stars making the country a regular stop in their global tours.
