Justine Jazareno named Best Libero in Leg 2 of SEA V. League for Alas Pilipinas

Former De La Salle University standout and current Akari Chargers libero Justine Jazareno emerged as the lone Filipino awardee in the second leg of the SEA V.League, earning recognition while helping the Philippines secure a bronze medal with a decisive win over Indonesia.

The accolade marks Jazareno’s first international award, adding to her growing career achievements and extending Alas Pilipinas’ streak of having at least one individual honoree in five consecutive legs of the tournament.

This year’s campaign was a strong statement for the team, as Alas Pilipinas Women wrapped up their final major tournament before the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in December by collecting two bronze medals and two individual awards in the prestigious annual regional competition.

Jazareno, 25, joins fellow Lady Spiker Angel Canino, who bagged the Best Outside Spiker award in the first leg held in Thailand. Together, they accounted for the Philippines’ two individual honors in this year’s V.League.

She now stands alongside some of Southeast Asia’s finest talents, including Thailand’s returning star Chatchu-on Moksri, who claimed one of the Best Outside Hitter awards, and Wimonrat Thanapan, who was named Best Middle Blocker. Veteran Thai setter Pornpun Guedpard dominated the playmaking department to win Best Setter. 

 Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Bích Tuyen achieved a remarkable double by securing both Best Opposite Hitter and the Most Valuable Player title. Her compatriots Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Tranh Thi Bich Thuy completed the winners’ circle as the other Best Outside Hitter and Best Middle Blocker, respectively.

With consistent podium finishes, individual accolades, and an improving roster, Alas Pilipinas enters the SEA Games with momentum — and the belief that they are inching closer to breaking the country’s long-standing medal drought in women’s volleyball.
