John Casimero falls out of Super Bantamweight world rankings

Filipino boxer John Riel Casimero was officially removed from the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Bantamweight world rankings on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The 36-year-old most recently fought last year, stopping American Saul Sanchez in the first round after failing to make the 122-pound weight limit.

Casimero was then slapped with a one-year suspension by the Japan Boxing Commission, as the Sanchez fight was the final straw for the governing body in his weight issues.

Casimero posted the first round of his sparring session at Watanabe gym preparing for his tune up match against @box_kyo on October 25th.

Quadro Alas formerly held titles at Flyweight, Super Flyweight, and Bantamweight, and was ranked sixth in the WBO 118-lbs world rankings last August.

This coming October, Casimero is set to fight Japanese boxer Kyonosuke Kameda in his comeback fight at 127 lbs.

Kameda boasts a 15-5-2 win-loss-draw record, including nine KOs. He last fought in July in the United States after a majority decision loss to David Picasso.

Casimero holds a professional boxing record of 34 wins, four losses, and a draw, including 23 knockout, and was ranked as high as fifth place in the WBO rankings after his victory against Fillipus Nghitumbwa in 2023.
