Jio Jalalon officially becomes an unrestricted free agent after the now-defunct Northport Batang Pier and the franchise that replaced them, the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, did not offer him a contract extension.
Jalalon, 33, has only three days to sign with a team before the PBA’s historic 50th season begins on Sunday, Oct. 5.
The former Magnolia guard told SPIN.ph that he has not heard from Northport or Pureblends Corp.since his contract expired last August.
“Walang kumausap sa akin kung papipirmahin pa ba nila ako or hindi na. Bago pa lang mag-expire yung contract ko, naghihintay na ako,” Jalalon told SPIN.ph.
Teams can keep the signing rights of players with a one-month grace period, yet nobody from either franchise ever reached out to Jalalon.
‘Hanggang yung one month na grace period. Wala akong natanggap na offer,” he said.
Jalalon was spotted last week training for a spot with TNT Tropang 5G, but was not offered a contract.
“Yun ang worry ko. Kasi mag opening na, pero wala pa akong team. Halos lahat ng teams ngayon puno na,” he said.
The former Arellano University standout averaged 7.7 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game.
