Jia de Guzman to sit out the rest of the year, will miss PVL Reinforced conference

The Creamline Cool Smashers will seek to regain their PVL Reinforced Conference crown without eight-time Best Setter Jia de Guzman.

Creamline plans to rest de Guzman for the rest of the year, meaning she will miss the Reinforced Conference slated for this month.

De Guzman, 30, came off a national team stint when Alas Pilipinas captured a historic silver medal in the AVC Nations Cup last June, and a third-place finish in the Southeast Asian V.League last August.

The Alas skipper is also expected to suit up for the national team again this December in the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Rhea Dimaculangan-Villarete and Kyle Negrito will spearhead the playmaking for Creamline as they seek to reclaim their Grand Slam-winning ways.

Creamline tapped Courtney Schwan as their import to help the core of former MVP Alyssa Valdez, Michelle Gumabao, and Jema Galanza.

The Cool Smashers faltered against the Petro Gazz Angels in the finals of the Reinforced Conference last year before capturing bronze medals in the PVL on Tour and Invitational Conferences.
