Jerwin Ancajas, Kenneth Llover to compete in world title eliminators

Filipino boxers Kenneth Llover and Jerwin Ancajas’ title aspirations grew one step closer as they are set to fight in world-title eliminators in their respective divisions.

The unbeaten Llover will fight in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Bantamweight title eliminator against Landile Ngxeke of South Africa, scheduled in October in Krgyzstan.

Llover stopped Panamanian Luis Concepcion in the eighth round last August to set up a potential chance to capture the vacant belt against the winner between Mexican Jose Salas Reyes and Riku Masuda of Japan.

In an interview with Fastbreak, Llover’s promoter Gerry Penalosa stated that if Llover wins the fight, he will automatically be next in line to compete for the 118-lb belt, which has been vacant since Japan’s Junto Nakatani moved up in weight.

“If Kenneth wins this fight, he becomes the mandatory challenger. Within 90 days, he’ll face the champion,” Peñalosa said.

Meanwhile in the Super Bantamweight division, former lower-weight champion Jerwin Ancajas was ordered by the IBF to fight Japanese Ryosuke Nishida.

Ancajas, ranked No. 5 in the IBF standings, recently won a majority decision on August 2 in his return to the USA against Uruguayan Ruben Casero.
