Former teammate Jeff Teague shared his thoughts on Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brother, Thanasis, re-signing with the Milwaukee Bucks in his Club 520 podcast.
Teague jokingly referred to the former NBA Most Valuable Player as ‘part owner’ while also stating that Thanasis deserves to be in the league.
“Giannis really different bro…I ain’t going to never say he (Thanasis) can’t hoop though. Like, he deserves it, I mean, he could play in the NBA.Obviously, you see his highlights. [Giannis a] part-owner. For sure, part-owner,” Teague said.
Thanasis is set to return to Milwaukee with a one-year, $2.9 million contract, after sitting out the entire 2024-2025 NBA season due to a torn Achilles tendon during a workout in 2024, according to The Athletic.
Teague, who played alongside the Antetokounmpo brothers in his last season, believes the re-signing will help Giannis’ on-court performance, and possibly, his future with the team.
“I told y’all he only play well when his brother around – not that he can’t hoop without his brother there — when his brother there, he be hoopin’ hoopin’,” he said.
Milwaukee will need to waive a player on their roster before the season to make way for Antetokounmpo.
The 32-year-old recently played in the 2023-2024 season, averaging 0.9 points in 4.6 minutes.
