Jean Claude Saclag hoping for ONE FC contract after sensational KO win

Filipino MMA fighter Jean Claude Saclag is aiming to become the next fighter to represent Team Lakay and the Philippines in ONE Fighting Championship.

Saclag crushed Juan Trujillo with a perfectly-placed spinning back kick at ONE Friday Night 127 on Friday, Oct. 3, to bounce back from a defeat against Shazada Ataev last May.

The Asian Games silver-medalist hopes that he can continue to deliver highlight finishes to earn a lucrative $100,000 main roster contract.

“That fight was a must-win situation for me and the team. The pressure was there as I had to prove that I’m still a strong contender. I am so thankful I won,” Saclag said.

“For now, I need to stay sharp, be ready for whatever or whoever they will give me. I must keep on winning until I get the contract to the main roster,” he added.

The stoppage improved his win-loss record to 5-2 and marked his third stoppage in ONE Championship, while Trujillo suffered the first defeat of his career.

Saclag also aims to climb up the Flyweight rankings and become the division’s second world champion from Team Lakay, after former world champion Geje Eustaquio.

Former Team Lakay member and Strawweight world champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio will look to become a historic two-division world champion as he is set to challenge Yuya Wakamatsu for the Flyweight World Champion on Sunday, Nov. 16 at ONE 173 in Japan.
