Jason Brickman to miss PBA Draft activities due to Guam commitment

Filipino-American Jason Brickman will not be in attendance for the PBA Draft festivities on September 4-7 due to a prior commitment to a sports camp in Guam.

The PBA had already been informed that the projected top-three pick will miss out on the Draft Combine today and tomorrow in Pasig, and on the actual Draft at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on September 7.

He is expected to arrive in the Philippines on September 8.

The Legends Meet the Future Camp and Classic, held by Guam Elite Basketball, will run from September 6-7, with Brickman teaching children alongside Taipei Kings guard Joseph Lin and 13-year-old prospect Terry Holt Jr.

The 33-year-old’s absence will not affect his dream of playing in the PBA, as he would still be eligible despite also playing for the Abra Solid North in the MPBL before suiting up for the team that selects him.

Brickman was set to enter the PBA Draft in 2021 but was ruled ineligible after failing to submit the necessary documents required for Fil-foreign players. The guard had aspirations to try again the following year, but instead signed for the Taiwanese team Kaohsiung Aqua for four years.

With the PBA recently lifting the 30-year-old age limit and requiring only a Filipino passport, Brickman’s PBA dreams might finally come to fruition, but he won’t be in attendance to hear his name called.
