Gilas Pilipinas is sending two of its most intriguing 3×3 lineups in recent years as both the men’s and women’s teams set their sights on a return to the SEA Games gold-medal podium this December in Bangkok.
The Gilas Women’s 3×3 squad arrives with a mix of top-ranked talent and battle-tested competitors—an intentional build as the program looks to reclaim regional supremacy.
Headlined by Kaye Pingol, the country’s top-ranked 3×3 women’s player, the roster also features Mikka Cacho, Jhazmin Joson, and Tantoy Ferrer, forming a core that has spent much of the year competing against elite opposition.
Pingol, Cacho, and Ferrer all logged minutes on the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series, giving the Philippines a level of continuity rarely seen in past SEA Games campaigns.

Under the guidance of coaches Anton Altamirano and Paolo Layug, the team is drawn into Pool A with Indonesia, Malaysia, and Laos. Only the top two will advance to the crossover semifinals—an unforgiving format that demands urgency from Day 1.
The women’s games will take place from December 10 to 11 at Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
On the men’s side, Gilas is turning heads with the inclusion of Angelo Kouame, who is set to make his 3×3 debut on the SEA Games stage. Now shifting from the 5-on-5 program to the quicker, more physical half-court style, Kouame’s presence adds size and rim protection that the Philippines has long lacked in the event.
He will be joined by Janrey Pasaol, the inaugural UAAP Boys’ 3×3 MVP and the presumed UAAP Season 88 MVP—continuing a family legacy in the sport as the younger brother of former world No. 2-ranked Filipino 3×3 star Alvin Pasaol.
Rounding out the roster are Joseph Eriobu and Joseph Sedurifa, two reliable veterans who provide stability and scoring.
The men’s squad will face Vietnam and Malaysia in the group stage as they look to improve on back-to-back silver medal finishes from the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.
With both squads blending experience, youth, and new star power, Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 enters Bangkok with renewed optimism and a realistic chance at climbing back to the top. The challenge, however, remains steep—as regional rivals continue to evolve and the 3×3 game becomes more competitive each year.
But with a deeper pool of talent and clearer system in place, the Philippines is positioned for one of its strongest SEA Games campaigns yet.
